In August 2019, the U-LEAD with Europe Programme completed implementation of the Local Development Initiative "Strong Councils - Capable Hromadas", carried out jointly with the Institute for Political Education since July 2018.
The initiative was intended to raise awareness of local council deputies about their powers, land relations, housing, communal services and budgeting.
As a result of the initiative, 270 deputies have successfully completed trainings in improving practical skills needed for their effective work: communication, argumentation of decisions, public speaking, prevention and overcoming of conflicts.
Here are a few success stories:
Oksana Kolyadenko, deputy of the Borodyanska AH (Kyiv Oblast), through participation in the Programme's activities, initiated the approval of the procedure of personal reception of citizens and the Programme for using the funds of the deputy fund.
Having participated in the trainings, Anna Frolova, deputy of the Kompaniyivska AH (Kirovohrad Oblast), managed to properly formulate and submit to the session a draft decision on the approval of hromada’s landscaping rules.
Vitaliy Hrabar, deputy of the Shpanivska AH (Rivne Oblast) is proud to share his experience of advocating the idea of creating a Programme of financial support for the execution of powers of the Shpanivska rural AH.
